PNet Profile Optimisation: How to Get Found by Recruiters in South Africa
To optimise your PNet profile, complete every section to 100%, list up to six realistic target job titles, build a skills list from real PNet job adverts, repeat those keywords in measurable achievements, upload an ATS-friendly CV, and switch on Open to Work. Then log in regularly so PNet treats you as an active candidate.

Why PNet is more than a place to apply
Most job seekers use PNet only to apply for jobs. Recruiters also use it as a search engine. They search PNet's CV database, which holds millions of candidate profiles, by job title, location and skills. If your profile is not built around the words they type, you will not appear, however strong your experience is.

That is why PNet is one of the most underused tools for career visibility. What is career visibility?
The two ways you get found on PNet
-
You apply to an advertised vacancy and the recruiter reviews your application.
-
A recruiter finds you by searching the CV database, without you applying at all.

Most people only optimise for the first. The second is where a strong profile works for you while you sleep, including for roles that are never advertised.
Real results from PNet optimisation
One Khumbu Digitals client received more than 10 interview requests in a single month from PNet profile optimisation alone. Among clients we surveyed who completed both their PNet and LinkedIn work, every one secured interviews. Our finance and accounting clients in particular see strong results on PNet.
Section by section: how to build your PNet profile
Personal information
Complete every field, including your ID number, and add a professional photo. PNet will not save an incomplete profile, and recruiters cannot find a profile that is not saved. Aim for 100% completion before anything else.
Open to Work
Switch on the green Open to Work button. It lets recruiters contact you about roles that are not publicly advertised. This is PNet's hidden job market.
What I'm looking for
List up to six target job titles. Do not list only one narrow title. Include closely related titles that recruiters actually search for and that you qualify for.
What I bring to the job
This covers work experience, education and skills. For skills, use the reverse-engineering method:
-
Search live PNet adverts in your target field.
-
Note the skills and keywords that repeat.
-
Keep only the ones you can prove.
-
List up to 50, most important first.
-
Repeat the same keywords in measurable achievement bullets under each role.
My documents
Upload an ATS-friendly CV. PNet and recruiters both read it for keywords. ATS-friendly CV guide
Account settings
Set your profile to visible. Switch on the options that let PNet propose you as a top match and let recruiters see your application history, which shows them the roles you have been pursuing.
Notification settings
Turn on alerts for matching vacancies and recruiter views so you can respond quickly.

Stay active after you build it
Log in regularly and keep your job preferences current. Activity signals that you are a live candidate.
Keep PNet and LinkedIn aligned
A recruiter who finds you on PNet will often check LinkedIn before calling. If the titles, dates, or achievements differ, they may quietly move on. Treat PNet and LinkedIn as two doors into the same house. LinkedIn guide

Frequently asked questions
Is PNet free for job seekers?
Yes. Creating a profile and applying for jobs is free.

Who can see my PNet profile?
Recruiters and employers searching PNet's CV database, if your profile is set to visible.
How do I upload my CV on PNet?
In the My Documents section of your profile. Use an ATS-friendly Word or text-based PDF file.
Why am I not getting responses on PNet?
The most common reasons are an incomplete profile, too few target job titles, a skills list that does not match how recruiters search, and Open to Work being switched off.

Is PNet better than LinkedIn?
They work best together. Many South African recruiters search both, so being visible on both doubles your chances of being found.
